My Artwork - Retro Airfix 1950/60s Packaging

While my own era of Airfix model making was influenced by the phenomenal artwork of Roy Cross (1960/70s), I have found that recreating the Type 1 (T1) and Type 2 (T2) Header Cards from a previous generation (1950/60s) is both therapeutic and ideally suited to my level of Photoshop competency. I also find these header cards both attractive and the iconic 1950s style very true of the period.

My idea was to create cheap and affordable art for my home, but others have suggested that my work is commercial enough to secure partners in producing a limited range of products. While I try and remain true to the original, as my recreations were enlarged with printing in mind, it has been essential to add some detail when required.

The following designs are a few of my recreations, which can be printed up to 48 inches across...

PLEASE NOTE that my recreations remain the intellectual property of Airfix (now owned by Hornby). They are interested in my work and would like to hear from established companies interested in these designs. Anyone wishing to exploit my artwork will need to work with Hornby as well as myself.
